According to the State Department, from October 1, 2006 through May 30, 2007, the USCIS requested and was authorized the total EB visa numbers of 66,426. Between June 1 and the first few days of July (?), the USCIS requested and was authorized over 60,000 EB visa numbers, in approximately one month. Since it has been made clear by the USCIS that during the last weekend of June (2 days) the USCIS approved 25,000 EB 485 applications, apparently over 40,000 visa numbers were requested and authorized before the weekend. Obviously the 60,000 plus cases must thus have been approved (?) in one month

I think you have hit the nail on the head. We are on a roller coaster ride and we need to cool our heels. The two amendments to help ease retrogression are already in two of the senator�s bills. Let's push that on through. We can later on use our imaginations to solve any �bigger" immigration issues.

Pankaj, the writeup is spot on except for the above. I am not sure it takes anyone in the EB category, 20 years to get the GC. It may happen in the future if retrogression is not fixed.
IMHO, it is important that we stick to facts when we write articles/op eds etc.
OK, I edited the text to make it clearer that 20-25 years applies only to some family based immigrants. Let me know if it reads OK (grammar etc.) after the edits.

Common people. We desperately need atleast THIS campaign to be a success. I mean as a team the IV core CANNOT ask for an amount lesser than $5.00.
We are a member base of 30,000 members, cant we all contribute this once? It is exactly FIVE dollars that we ask of ALL members.
If we cannot get every single silent/dormant member to contribute atleast this once, then maybe we should just pack up our bags and fold, coz if we cant even contribute FIVE DOLLARS for our own betterment, we are in a very sorry state.

Are you sure it was Atlanta and not Chicago?. Your timeline suggests it was applied in Chicago.
My company applied for PERM ALC EB-2 category at Atlanta on 18th June 2007, got it approved on 20th June. Received hard copy on 26th June.

As EB1 is Cureent, presume processing applications up date, EB3 is Unavailable, means no work to do for USCIS people as far as EB3 Adjudicate cases, leave EB4, EB5 categories aside which dont have many applications to process. Then the only category left for working with is EB2 and that also having ROW being current, the adjuticate applications left for processing with available visa numbers are EB2 India for time being. So this means for the next few months including this June 2008 there might be many approvals in
EB2 India category, as because theres no considerable work in EB category for USCIS people except EB2 India Adjudication. So presumably all the available visa numbers will be processed effectively in the EB2 category for the fical year.
It is simple. If the number of pending EB2 Apps before April 1st 2004 (India and China combined) is less than the number of spill over visa numbers, then there will be some forward movement in EB2 next month. If not, the dates will remain the same or may even retrogress.

Well ...well ..well.... All this opposition tells me that I am on the right track along with all the people who support this cause.
Infact, we had seen similar opposition when we spoke against labor substitution in 2004 on immigrationcom website.
But labor substitution was stopped and DOL is currently auditing/investigating so many who used it. If you used labor substitution, you mostly should find that your I-140 is not getting adjudicated these days.
Interfiling while being the same company is totally illegal. Its tantamounts to fabricating the job requirements or asking you HR to "create a job position".
I whole heartedly support all EB3s who were qualified for EB2 when they filed their EB3 and we will keep this clause in mind when preparing the lawsuit.
Rest.. good luck.. you might even get your I-140 (or GC) approved based on PD porting ... but we will make sure that you get investigated eventually and the "incorrect decision" overturned.

Why in that case is he/she not eligible to port his earlier pd?
I honestly think that we should worry less about these issues and channel all our energy to fight for a common cause - 'end of retrogression' via legislative changes. In the long run, EB1 vs EB2 or EB2 vs EB3 or EB-I vs EB-ROW will not matter, things will eventually even out!

So are you judging all of India's education by the IIT's? I didn't graduate from IIT and so didn't 99.9% of Indian IT people.
I can tell you for a fact that Universities in America are much better than those in India. This is why I came here and I went to an average university here which I could afford.
What Professor-ji said in the video was that Indians were successful DESPITE the poor education they received in India. India is becoming a world superpower in research and development DESPITE this. I believe this is true. Indians know how to compete and will be world leaders because they work hard and think smart.
Lets not fool ourselves at least!! We need to learn to accept the truth.
