Paraphrasing: I don't like being told what I can and can't do.
does your eye roll imply that you like being told what you can and cannot do? I imagine, strangely, that you do.
He's a developer, who writes applications. If he wants to write applications his own way, he should be allowed to. The approval process should come from the iPhone users themselves.
If he writes an app how he wants, and it sucks (as posters here have implied), then nobody will use it and it will die with or without Apple's involvement. If nobody is using his apps, and that is his means of employment, then he will either 1) adapt and survive or 2) push the unemployment in this country beyond 10%.

I hope they hold true to the June date. If apple does not announce on their website is this an indication the date might slip?
So will this also be available at the apple store also?

Most internet users do, yes. 96.79% of them infact (http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/). That site polls (and updates, so no duplicates) PC and Mac users who use Steam.
And going by this logic 100% of internet users use Steam. ;)

I hope they significantly improve the voice recognition abilities if they are to make it a more prominent feature of the OS. The voice control in iOS is appalling - it has NEVER ONCE understood me - and the results appear to be worse if talked to through the headphones mic. In fact, I'm always forced to scurry into my pocket to try to cancel a call to some person I haven't spoken to in years...

Just read that EMI (the Beatles' label) have received a bid of £2.5bn from an unknown company.
That would make the negotiations easier ;)
---
gulp.
thats a LOTTA cash.
But Im wondering if EMI-APPLE Ltd., despite legal tussles with APPLE computer, probably like the ideas of:
1. twin-named brand association, and
2. how the iTunes store, with its huge market and sales system, is already in place, RIGHT NOW, and could drive the sales of Beatles music up-right now, also, unlike ZUNE, which is still at zero, market wise.
Its been noted that MS has finally just decided to just brazenly copy the iPod/iTunes sales model to the letter-since theyve failed in the past, but they may already too late.
MS doesnt have 'mystique' , 'exclusivity' or 'clue' of Apple seems to have.
(ad line: Listen to APPLE on an APPLE!)
Now, MS could easily afford it (if this rumour is true)
But then, so could Apple-they have a big wad of cash, too-and their collateral: the iTunes store-with a huge sales/marketing/hardware system already in place, could stand to make back a lot of that money QUICKLY-whereas if ZUNE had exclusives to the Beatles-most people, already owning iPods, but checking out ZUNE, (or when they finally got around to buying one), would wonder: "why wont this play on my iPod?" Or "Why can I only listen to a song 3 times?"

It's nice to see the generally positive comments on this forum, other forums for "professionals" are not so happy!
Personally I can't wait to start working with it.
What these naysayers are NOT saying is what pro features are missing. Until they list something wrong with it, they are just being irrational. My experience is, lots of guys don't like their pro apps getting too easy to use, because they want their skills to be considered special. They hate it when, "Anyone can do it".
As others have pointed out, editing skills isn't just about technical expertise with the tools. What sets the better editors apart, is the choices they make. Think Walter Murch.

The iPhone 4's 5 mp camera has superior quality against its competitors 8mp. The reason being is that the quality of the lens that is in the iPhone is higher than the opposing. I hope to see crystal clear hdr photos and 1080p 30fps video. 1080p on the next iPad would rock!

Yes i imagine this is partly true, because creative/talented upstarts who do not have years of complex/technical experience, on a much smaller budget can preform at a much closer level to those with many more years of experience.
I say closer level because as mentioned earlier there is much more that goes into professional editing than software know how. With that said, the upstarts present real competition to the entrenched because they can - on a smaller budget - more easily produce comparable work - which might have the effect of lowering the amount entrenched professionals can charge for their work.

I actually did get confirmation that my battery qualified. Took me awhile to get onto the page, but it finally worked. After that, it let me fill out a form to send me a new battery.
I'm not too bummed this has happened; after all, my battery is only holding about 90% of its original charge. However, it's funny that I've already had a battery recalled for my 18-month old PowerBook (15-inch) so this will be the third battery for me.

This is interesting. Quite a long way from the days of 32 MB Mp3 players.
Apple with their success I am sure has long term visions for the iPod as a platform beyond music. In a way it's a new computer platform for them.
They have already pushed iPods into education at the university level (I never got the utility in that), but with eBook functionality the plot thickens. Students could buy all their textbooks from iTunes. In fact, there already are specific iTunes stores for colleges (the one I am familiar with is Stanford). And of course, some iTunes albums already come with PDFs. This could herald true album art along with the entire booklet stored on the iPod.
iPods are ubiquitous. But books are even more ubiquitous. But what could be even more ubiquitous than a book? An iPod that is both and iPod and a book!
They were smart to give it such a generic name (iPod) with as broad of a platform as it is becoming.

I would too, but I'm just warning whoever posted the price that 700 bucks would be very low for the computer.

....and watching the retail pandaemonium Apple brings with its popular products. Simply amazing.
While admittedly many of its advances are pretty nice, and after playing with one for 15 minutes at MicroCenter, I'm sticking with my generation 1 iPad and waiting until iPad 3 comes out.
I like how the new version is much snappier and how pages in Safari don't have to reload so often (plus no checkerboard). However, for me, I'd have to be pretty impatient to just update for those reasons alone. Every iteration is going to likely improve on these points.
The one thing that really tempts me is form factor. The decrease in width makes a noticeable improvement in handling the device. I didn't think the .2 lbs shaved off would make a difference, but it does. I guess when you're dealing with devices already incredibly light, even a .2 lb difference is notable.
As much as I hate to admit it, the new cover is pretty slick. I look forward to seeing what third parties dream up.
Still, in the end, I'm waiting for iPad 3, which will probably have a higher res screen. Besides a better media experience, it opens doors for app developers due to more real estate. Also, by that time, I will have ditched my Android for an iPhone 5 making the iPad camera and Facetime more useful. 4G may even be an option by then.
For those looking for the iPad 2, good luck. If you have never had an iPad, I think you'll find your efforts worth it. I know people love to throw the term around, but it really is a game changer.

Well, let's be real here. It is a shooter. The game is going to mainly entail traversing levels, and shooting the enemies in the way. By nature, it is going to be repetitive. I guess I didn't feel that though, given the variety in the way you go about this; On foot, in a Warthog, in a Falcon, with a Jet Pack, in a Space Ship, with a team, by yourself. I quite liked all the various levels, and the ways the game made available to finish them.
Yes, you are right, but the story itself, in the little I've seen of it is just more of the same, but I have not given up. I'm hoping to get back into it this weekend. :)

They banned songs like Lucy in the Sky and Ticket to Ride... (not to mention Metallica's Seek and Destroy) because the songs reminded people of the event.
And the lyrics to Daytripper foreshadow 9/11 as well (just change all occurances of the word "she" to "Achmed" and it all becomes crystal clear).

Well, I think you said "maybe," but it's all good now. I will put the Plextor DVD-RW Drive in the bottom bay. Question though, I have Toast 7 for Power PC, but will it work alright under rosetta, or do I have to buy a Universal Binary? No I most certainly did not say "maybe". I said "definitely". The Toast 7.1 update is UB. It's FREE.
